About The NCA

The Nutana Community Association has it roots in the Nutana Residents Association. Formed in 1979, residents of the neighborhood decried the extensive ‘re-vitalization’ processes which involved the rapidly increasing destruction of many single-family homes to make way for apartment and condominium construction. Arguing on the basis of diminishing neighborhood character the Nutana Residents Association formed, and was successful in rezoning significant parts of the area, while encouraging higher density development to occur more along the arterial roads. A formal constitution was drafted, and the residents association was replaced with the Nutana Community Association in 1986. Land-use, zoning issues, neighborhood livability, traffic, parking, safety, education, recreation, indoor and outdoor sports continue to be areas the Nutana Community Association strives to improve. Its aim is to make Nutana a happy, comfortable, healthy and vibrant place to live, work and play.

The Nutana Community Association, in conjunction with the City of Saskatoon, provides a variety of fitness, recreational sport, and instructional programs for children, youth and adults. Held in neighborhood schools, these programs are offered at reasonable cost to residents of Nutana and other city neighborhoods. The NCA also maintains two skating rinks in the neighborhood, and a community garden. The community association is also very active in working with city council and administration to improve aspects of our neighborhood.

The Nutana Community Association Board of Executives meets at Nutana Collegiate Library, the first Wednesday of every month (July/August exempted), at 7:00 pm to discuss neighborhood issues, plan neighborhood events and consider ways to make the neighborhood a great place to live. The meetings are open to all residents of Nutana. Come and join us, share your ideas or concerns and learn how you can take an active part in the life of your community.
